Arcade Architects

Arcade Architects successfully handed over this new build residential project in Loanhead to Melville Housing Association in the summer of 2005.
The £0.58m project completes a corner gap site with 6 flats for rent and was constructed by Campion Homes in 36 weeks.
The building’s principal elevation addresses George Avenue, with a ‘tower’ element inflecting it towards the secondary frontage to George Terrace. The entrance is from a paved courtyard off George Terrace, shared with Loanhead Clinic which lies immediately behind the new development.
The pitched roof to the eastern elevation speaks to the adjacent housing to north and south and the three storey west elevation relates to the taller housing to the west.
The end users were closely involved with all stages of the project and Campion Homes worked in a partnering relationship with the design team during the design development phase of the project.
The building is compliant with “Housing for Varying Needs” and “Secured by Design”.
