What Could Metaverse Casino Architecture Look Like?
September 20, 2024
Ever since Mark Zuckerberg announced his plans for the metaverse in 2021, architects have been speculating about the part they will play in digital building design. There could potentially be sprawling cities within this virtual reality world, meaning architects could be in high demand.
There are certain entertainment options that have a good chance of getting representation in the metaverse, with many people expecting online casinos to adapt. If this comes to fruition, architects may be required to bring well-known gambling houses to life in the VR world.
Will Online Casinos Adapt to the Metaverse?
The big question as it stands is whether online casinos will adapt to the metaverse. A lot of people think that this is an inevitability, and you only have to look at how far the sector has evolved so far to agree with this. No industry on the planet has progressed as rapidly as online casinos have through constant integration of technological innovations.
The online slot games at Paddy’s are testament to this consistent development. It seems that new features are being constantly added, with a rise in diverse mechanics on the games in recent times. For example, There’s Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe, Lucky Bass: Mega Cash Collect, and Bigger Catch Bass Fishing Rapid Fire, all of which have different mechanisms for their features.
Other sections of online casinos have adapted to technological advancements as well. For example, there are now countless live casino games that take advantage of the growing popularity of the live-streaming platform. According to figures from Restream, the live-streaming sector could reach a valuation of $3.21 billion by 2027. The online casino industry is well positioned to benefit from this booming interest in the tech.
Initial Focus May Be on Standalone VR Games
Some sources predict the VR market to boom and be worth £435 billion by 2030. If this happens and VR headsets become essential household items, it’s fair to assume that online casinos will have introduced VR sections. Some of the biggest studios including Microgaming and NetEnt have already experimented with VR, showing their dedication to incorporating new tech whenever it arises.
In the early days of VR at online casinos, architects may not be required. The general expectation is that the tech will be used on standalone games, and players will be able to select these from a web page in the same way that they currently do with live-streaming options. VR could be used to enhance existing live games, offering greater immersion than what’s currently available.
VR Casinos May Replicate Classic Casino Architecture
Over time, however, online casinos may become sprawling VR metaverses of their own. There’s a chance that players will be able to walk around and explore different games, just as they would in a real world setting.
This is where architects would come in. Experts in building design may be required to replicate classic casinos, such as the Casino de Monte-Carlo or the Ritz Club London. They may also be needed to come up with innovative plans for original casinos designed specifically for the metaverse. These could draw upon iconic casinos from the real world, but also include digital elements that align them with this futuristic scenario.
Some architects have already ventured into the world of VR, and many more could be set to follow. If the industry booms like many expect it to, there could one day be VR online casinos. These will need architects to bring them to life and help them rival their real-world counterparts.
