Plans for a new hotel and an office building that offer well-located accommodation close to Edinburgh Airport, were lodged for planning permission this week by The EDI Group (EDI).
Developed by EDI, the 90-bed hotel to be operated by Travelodge, will open to visitors in late 2008. The Travelodge, the fourth in the City, will include a restaurant and café/bar together with car parking for 72 cars.
The new 3-storey speculative office development, set in a landscaped environment, will offer 2,300sq metres of high quality, open plan accommodation.
The office, the second phase of EDI’s successful development at Ratho Station, will be designed and built to meet the highest environmental standards. The first, fully occupied phase was completed in 2005.
3D Architects have designed both new buildings for EDI. The practice has recently been responsible for a number of high profile office developments and business parks developments. 3D Architects previously worked with EDI on The Clocktower at South Gyle.
Two minutes from the M8/M9 Interchange and just five minutes from Edinburgh International Airport, the new developments are well located for companies that require good transport links.
Speaking on behalf of The EDI Group, Neil Johnson, Senior Development Surveyor, said how pleased he was to be driving forward plans for a second phase of development at Ratho Park:
“Ratho Station is ideally located and we’re confident that our second, speculative office development on this site will build on the success of the first phase and bring more jobs to the area. The new Travelodge will help meet the demand for competitively priced, well located hotel accommodation for both leisure and business travellers.
