Circus Cafe – Zanzero Stockbridge Restaurant
The Circus Cafe had a bar, restaurant and foodhall. Lighting at this 14-15 North West Circus Place building was designed by talented local company Mike Stoane Lighting. The Circus Cafe owner was the son of former Rangers chairman (& steel tycoon) David Murray (who lives nearby in Charlotte Square).
Also owned by Keith Murray is Halo Edinburgh, another food and beverage venue in the Scottish capital.

This Stockbridge restaurant is not to be confused with the Circus Cafe Bistro at 8 Saint Mary’s Street, Edinburgh EH1 1SU.
A review in The Scotsman describes the space thus: ‘The decor is faintly middle eastern and a succession of clues point to a strong Turkish influence’. The owner is a Turk.
The review goes on to say, ‘Circus Cafe’s evening bistro has a long way to go if it is to live up to the bustling daytime cafe, which attracts students, shoppers and plaudits in equal measure. Its prices, for instance, would be fine if the quality of food on offer was up to scratch, but at an average of £7 for starters and £12 for mains, this is too expensive for cost-conscious students, and of insufficient quality for older and more discerning foodies.’
