This is a former cinema in central Edinburgh which now hosts touring musicals and music concerts. Its capacity is 3,059, (Stalls: 1,519, Balcony: 860 and Circle: 680) making it the UK’s largest working non-sporting theatre in terms of audience capacity.

The Basement ceiling lets it all hang out, service ducts fully exposed. The palette is fairly dark with an accent on dark green. The theatre and bar sit in the basement of the postmodern Saltire Court, dressed with Old Red Sandstone.

Leith Gateway
The theatre building was situated at no 41 Elm Row, a section of Leith Walk in Edinburgh. The site was a veterinary college in 1890, and reconstructed as Pringle’s Picture Palace in about 1910.
