FAITHFUL+GOULD APPOINTED AS PROJECT MANAGERS ON ST COLUMBA’S HOSPICE REDEVELOPMENT
Following a competitive bid process, Faithful+Gould has been appointed as project managers for the redevelopment of St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.
Faithful+Gould will be providing project management services on the £22million phased development, which will involve the refurbishment of St Columba’s current facilities as well as new purpose built extensions. The redevelopment will comprise of new in-patient accommodation, day care facilities, educational and training areas, a chapel and lecture theatre, reconfiguration of the buildings at Challenger Lodge, new landscaped areas and the provision of a new car park.
The Hospice is set within the Trinity Conservation area on the Firth of Forth, and contains a 30 bed unit, together with community and day care facilities which provide specialist support and advice services for as many as 150 patients at any one time. One of the main challenges of this project will be to keep the Hospice operational throughout the redevelopment and ensure the utmost respect is retained in this very sensitive environment.
Paul Sherry, Director at Faithful+Gould said: “We are extremely pleased to have won this exciting commission and to be part of the team for this prestigious project. Faithful+Gould already has an extensive healthcare portfolio and is accustomed to delivering successful projects in this field. We are looking forward to working with the Hospice and the Design Team to create a quality palliative care and educational facility which gives optimum functionality for the Hospice whose staff, students, patients and families needs will be paramount during our involvement.“
