Edinburgh New Town Flat
Claremont Crescent : Scottish capital flat extension design by Graeme Massie Architects, Scotland
Design: Graeme Massie Architects
Claremont Crescent
Extension of a flat in Edinburgh New Town
Info from Graeme Massie Architects Oct 2007
Claremont Crescent, Edinburgh
Formed by an earlier sub-division of a townhouse in Edinburgh’s New Town, the existing apartment, although Grade A listed, responds poorly to the needs of the current occupants.
The project seeks to redress the current imbalance between public and private accommodation through the reorganisation of space out-with the principal drawing room. At its most marked, this takes the form of a cantilevered kitchen and dining area which extends the internal spaces towards the garden below.
The project has recently received Planning and Listed Building Consents and is due to go on-site by the end of 2007.
Graeme Massie Architects shortlisted in the final five practices for the Young Architect of the Year Award 2007
