Keppie Design: 150 Years of an Architectural Practice
15 Mar – 16 Apr 2004

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was the third principal in this architectural practice, which was founded in Glasgow in 1854 by John Honeyman. It retains the name of its second principal, John Keppie, and is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2004.

This architecture exhibition gives a short introduction to the history of the practice by displaying a selection of drawings of buildings from various eras, and explaining their significance. It coincides with a talk on Honeyman by David Stark on 25 March at the RIAS, and precedes the publishing of the Keppie Architects history in the autumn of 2004.

John Honeyman-Architect

John Honeyman founded an architectural practice in 1854 which today retains the name of its second principal John Keppie. Honeyman remained until 1904 when Charles Rennie Mackintosh was assumed into the partnership. While his passion was church design, Honeyman’s work spanned across most areas of Victorian life, and its story is as much a social as an architectural one.
David Stark is Principal Architect of Keppie Design, celebrating 150 years of creativity in 2004.
