The Cockburn Association (Edinburgh’s Civic Trust) organises Edinburgh Doors Open Day. Now in its 22nd year, the event has become one of the capital’s most popular free days out. This is your chance to explore some of Edinburgh’s most architecturally, culturally and socially significant buildings. Many venues feature behind the scenes tours, activities, exhibitions and/or talks which bring the history of the building, garden, cemetery or monument and its everyday use to life. Some sites organise additional free activities for children and families.

Edinburgh Ceilidh
Edinburgh Doors Open Day Cockburn Ceilidh
Date: 28 Sep 2013 7pm until midnight
Dance to the Reel Time Ceilidh Band in the vibrant surroundings of The Hub, one of the fantastic venues featured in DoD with its wonderful, dramatic and entirely unique Sculpture Hall, created around a sweeping staircase, leading to the Main Hall with its sprung dance floor.
The Dunard Library, a traditional wood panelled room with windows designed by Christian Shaw and walls painted a rich raspberry, is the bar for the evening with both draft beer and lager available and providing a haven from the dance floor for a wee break.
The Reel Time Ceilidh Band offers a Scottish dancing extravaganza with a contemporary twist. Funky Scottish music along with fun dance calling instruction, they always explain how the dances are performed (ceilidh calling), to maximise enjoyment and keep some order on the dance floor.
Free bottle of wine for table of 10 when booked together
Ticket includes Stovies/Haggis Neeps & Tatties/Vegetarian option and dessert
Full bar will be available plus amazing raffle prizes to be won
